The Invincibles, the gunners, Arsenal FC one of the biggest football clubs in the world and known so prestigiously but today it seems like they are falling short of that crown.
When Wenger left in 2017, there was hope and optimism but when Emery – a man with three Europa League titles and a Ligue 1 championship over the past five years came that hope and optimism turned into despair very quickly.
The question contently arises where are Arsenal going wrong? Is it recruitment? Is it coaches? Or is it simply a matter of players mindset?
Whatever it maybe it seems to me that Arsenal are a trillion years away from winning the premier league anytime soon (ok sorry that was an exaggeration)
When you look at Arsenal this season, there a team that is so unpredictable, in one week they can go and beat the top two teams in England but next week lost to a relegation fighting team. Now from a fan's perspective, this must be so frustrating as to why is it every season the gap is getting wider to challenge for the top 4!
Now if you think last season was ‘bad’ this season Arsenal this season has been a complete catastrophe by comparison. The Gunners’ stock within key Sporting Index football betting markets for the Premier League has never been lower.
Forgot winning the primer league as god forbid that will need a miracle right now! I believe it simply boils down to the player's mindset, now that is not to say that certain changes don’t need to occur but without the players winning mindset and a feel-good factor this Arsenal team won’t even break into the top 6 forgot Champions league football.
In 2019 Petr Čech questioned Arsenal mindset in an interview with the Evening Standard and he said,
“It will sound strange, but I think generally at Arsenal there is not enough pressure, “Arsene is a real gentleman. As much as he hates losing, he stays a gentleman. If you lose, you win, you lose, you win, he kind of carries on. That’s something I’ve never experienced before.”
Čech then goes onto say that according to Chelsea in comparison the mindset is completely different
“At Chelsea, at the times when we drew, it felt like a funeral in the dressing room. It was so bad,” he recalled.
“If we drew against a big team at home, it was like, ‘Oh no, it is impossible we didn’t win at home’. It came from everywhere: the players, the coach. Since the start when I was there, the pressure was there every game.”
Now Čech has played for both clubs but when a senior player retires and then goes onto to say this it’s very important to understand that it’s not always down to the owners or the coaches and yes they do play an important part but the player's mindset is just an important and if not the most important thing!
Just look around you, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Bayern Munich and PSG and many more great teams have a winning mentality and that is why they are doing way better then Arsenal so if Arsenal needs to be back challenge trophies once again then they need to reset and start all over again and as much Arteta is so far bold and stern with this team there is a lot that still needs to be done and it needs to start with selling players and bringing in quality in my opinion. Furthermore, I still think today that Wenger and Emery were never bad coaches and with a team like Barcelona or Bayern Munich they would achieve greatness as the players mindset is there but even if the great Sir Alex or Pep came into Arsenal they would not make them superstars because the simply the mindset is not there so no I don’t think Wenger leaving or even sacking the Emery was the solution if anything it was the players who throw these two great coaches under the bus.
